The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, was released in U.S. theaters on April 3, 2026. Directed by Kristoffer Borgli, the romantic drama explores a couple's relationship taking an unexpected turn before their wedding.
My Take
I really loved this movie. It kept me on edge from the very beginning. Just from the title, The Drama, I knew something was going to happen early on, but since I did not watch the trailer, I had no idea where the story was going.
The Setup
The story revolves around a couple about to get married. During a dinner with friends, a question comes up: "What's the worst thing you've ever done?"
Emma, the bride, then confesses that she once planned a school shooting, although she never actually carried it out. That is where the real drama begins.
What is interesting is that the other terrible things revealed by the groom and his friends do not seem to shock anyone as much. But Emma's confession is treated as a much bigger deal, especially because one of the guests, Rachel, has a cousin who was paralyzed in a school shooting.
Why It Works
From that point on, the movie focuses on whether the couple can overcome this and still get married. I stayed on edge the whole time, trying to predict how it would end, and I really wanted to know what would happen.
I think the movie is great because it naturally leads to discussion after watching it. If you watch it with friends or your partner, you will probably end up asking: "Would you have forgiven her?"
My Verdict
My personal answer is: yes. Emma seems to be the only character who truly feels remorse for what she did. I do not think she is a dangerous person, and it looks like she is capable of real reflection. On the other hand, Rachel, who thought it was funny to lock a child in a cabinet for hours, actually seems more concerning to me.
